Visiting Tarves Heritage
How to find us
Tarves is approximately 18 miles northwest of Aberdeen. The Heritage Centre is located in the centre of the village and the Square itself has ample free parking spaces. The postcode is AB41 7GX
From Aberdeen: take the A90 North across the Bridge of Don. Turn left on to the B999 at the roundabout. Follow the B999 for approximately 13 miles to Tarves.
From Ellon: take the A920 towards Pitmedden. On reaching the crossroads 4 miles along this road, turn right onto the B999 to reach Tarves a further 2 miles on.
From Oldmeldrum: take the A920 to Pitmedden then turn left onto the B999.
The Heritage Centre, which opened in July 2004, is housed in part of a Victorian school dating back to 1837. Extensively restored to blend in with the village's Conservation Area status, the Heritage Centre is now a major attraction in Tarves and the surrounding area.

The Heritage Centre is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays from 1-4pm beginning Thursday 11th April until Sunday 28th October 2024
Admission costs
Entry to the Centre is free but donations to help our running costs are very welcome.
Special visits
An escorted tour of the Heritage Centre combined with an introductory talk is available by prior arrangement for larger groups within or out with opening hours. This can be booked by calling 01651 851883 or by emailing tarvesheritage@outlook.com. Please note our office is unmanned out with opening hours so please leave your contact details on the answerphone and a volunteer will get back to you.
